Dreaming In Millions

Starting his working life delivering newspapers before and after school, Peter Jackson went on to become a world-travelled journalist and Britain’s most prolific editor in an era when publishers could dream in millions.  At the height of their success, four major magazines he created (three of which he created  and twice named Editor of the Year) could claim a total circulation of nearly 13,000,000 copies.

His long-awaited memoirs, out now on Amazon and in book shops, include fascinating tales of scores of world-famous personalities and opens with the line:

“I first met Rupert Murdoch in a queue at Buckingham Palace…”

Peter Jackson founded Grayling Publishing as specialists in creative consultancies in 1990 and rapidly built up an international clientele, helping to re-launch or re-fresh British magazines of every kind – from Opera Now to NME, from Architect’s Journal to Local Government Chronicle, from Classic Cars to Flight International.

He was in particular demand in South Africa and Australia where he was known as The Magazine Doctor.  In 2007 he won the Indonesian Golden Yak media award for re-launching a fashion magazine in Bali.

“Most of the once-successful titles I attended had held on too long to what they thought was the winning formula.  I merely asked them: ‘Why do you keep on doing that?  Why have you never tried this?’

Magazines have to constantly evolve – that was my message. Never be frightened to surprise your readers.
